Bombers Not Messing Around At QB

With their first pre-season game under their belt, the Bombers are not messing around at the QB position.

There was never any doubt that Collaros would be their starter. Yet, with the loss of both Prukop and Brown in free agency, anything after the number 1 spot was questionable.

That was, of course, until the Bombers brought back Streveler. At that point it was quite evident that Streveler would be the number 2 quarterback. However, the question that remained, at least for me, was if Streveler’s time in the NFL made him a better passer.

If you ask me, pre-season game 1 answered that question, and the answer was “no”. So the Bombers need a good number 3 quarterback on their roster. The Bombers gave Eric Barriere a chance to win that spot. But his sub-par performance would result in him being released on May 25th.

While Terry Wilson had a game that would keep many quarterbacks on the roster, the Bombers did not settle. Instead, on the same day they released Barriere they signed quarterback Darren Grainger.

Will Darren Grainger secure the Bomber’s number 3 quarterback spot? I have no clue!

You may wonder why I do not bother to tell about his college stats. The reason is simple. That rarely translates into success/lack of success in the CFL. Far more important than that will be how he plays on Friday night vs Calgary in Winnipeg’s second pre-season game.

One thing is certain. If Darren Grainger does not show better than Terry Wilson did in the first pre-season game, we likely will not see Darren Grainger again this year with the Bombers.

Who do you see as the Bomber’s number 3 quarterback?

Now that he’s been released, maybe Prukop? Can he throw?
