This one is going to be really fun to read the comments on social media. We will quickly see who actually read the article and who just read the headline.
Typically 20-11 would not be a roast. But when the game was as lopsided as this one, and the majority of the Lion’s points came when Winnipeg was playing a prevent defense – which allows teams to move the ball down the field but takes a lot of clock out of the game – teams often score. Sometimes that is referred to as garbage time, but I do not really like that saying because guaranteed even though the Bombers were paying prevent defense, the players did not want BC to score.
Many in the media were full of hype for the return of Rourke. Not me. As I mentioned, Rourke had yet to beat the Bombers. And Sunday night was no different!
BC would have to wait until the fourth quarter to score any points. That means that the Bombers had shut out BC for 7 straight quarters.
No, the score certainly did not tell the whole story.
Compare that to Collaros’ and you can see that the game was never as close as the final score seems to indicate.
In fact the whole Bomber team played well.
Was the offence perfect? No. But the defense was fantastic! And the Bombers did exactly what I said they would need to do to win.
For a BC team that got embarrassed 25-0 I expected to see some killer instinct from them…it was lacking. Sure, Rourke was rusty, but nobody else stepped up for BC. And since BC, at this point in the season, lacks that killer instinct…the West is wide open!
Which is a massive change from Week 5.
If you want to watch all the highlights from this Week 11 slobber-knocker, here they are!
