In a night where the weather was as cold as the Montreal Alouettes’ offense, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers took a decisive victory with a 17-3 triumph. It was a game that saw the Bombers bouncing back with resilience from their previous loss, and the Alouettes struggling to find their footing on both sides of the ball.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The Bombers showcased a strong, balanced offensive game that proved too hot to handle for the Alouettes. Quarterback Zach Collaros threw for 193 yards, completing 15 out of 23 attempts with two touchdowns, despite a lone interception. On the ground, running back Brady Oliveira delivered a solid performance, rushing 20 times for 119 yards. Although he couldn’t find the endzone, his contribution played a significant role in the Bombers’ offensive success.
As far as receiving goes, wide receiver Dalton Schoen emerged as the top performer for the Bombers, pulling in 5 receptions for 93 yards and a touchdown. Drew Wolitarsky complemented Schoen’s efforts by adding a touchdown of his own on 3 catches for 38 yards.
However, the Bombers’ triumph wasn’t merely an offensive endeavor. The defense, led by cornerback Alden Darby, was in top form as well. Darby recorded 6 total tackles and his fellow CB Abu Daramy-Swaray was right there with him, also tallying 6 tackles. Defensive tackle Willie Jefferson contributed significantly to the pressure on the Alouettes’ quarterback with 2 quarterback sacks.
Montreal Alouettes
The Alouettes, on the other hand, had a dismal night. Quarterback Cody Fajardo struggled throughout the game, completing 17 out of 26 passes for 258 yards but failed to record a touchdown. He also threw a critical interception. On the ground, William Stanback led the Alouettes with 42 yards on 8 carries but he, too, couldn’t find his way into the end zone.
Through the air, wide receivers Kaion Julien-Grant and Austin Mack did their part with impressive yardages. Julien-Grant ended the game with 6 receptions for 129 yards while Mack brought down 6 receptions for 103 yards. However, their efforts couldn’t translate into points on the board for the Alouettes.
On the defensive end, linebacker Bryce Notree had a solid performance with 6 total tackles, but the Alouettes’ defense overall had a hard time containing the Bombers’ offense. The team struggled to generate a significant pass rush, which proved crucial in the defeat.
This game was a textbook display of the Bombers’ prowess on both ends of the field. They managed to control the tempo of the game and shut down the Alouettes’ offense. With this victory, they’ll be looking forward to carrying the momentum forward into their next encounter. As for the Alouettes, they will be heading back to the drawing board, seeking to make crucial adjustments for their upcoming games.
