The Calgary Stampeders opened their 2024 CFL season with a 32-24 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at McMahon Stadium on Friday night. With the win, the Stampeders start the year 1-0 while the Tiger-Cats begin 0-1.
In a highly anticipated matchup, Stampeders quarterback Jake Maier got the better of former teammate Bo Levi Mitchell, who returned to Calgary for the first time as a member of the Tiger-Cats. Maier completed 21 of 26 passes for 252 yards and two touchdowns, outshining the two-time CFL Most Outstanding Player. The Stamps also got rushing touchdowns from Ante Milanovic-litre and field goals from Rene Paredes.
