CSEC Implementing Vaccination Policy for Stampeders Games

Calgary Sports and Entertainment (CSE) is working on a policy that will help protect fans and stadium staff from COVID-19.

The CSE made the announcement Monday that is requiring fans and stadium staff to be fully vaccinated for attendance at live events at the Scotiabank Saddledome and McMahon Stadium. Their target date for the policy to go into effect on September 15th.

The team made a statement on Monday expressing their support for CSE’s policy on their vaccination policy.

As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, CSEC believes this policy to be essential in delivering a safe environment for our fans and staff as well as an important measure to help our communities and businesses to continue reopening safely. We will monitor the situation and communicate required updates to ensure a safe environment for everyone visiting our facilities. We remain excited to have welcomed fans back to McMahon Stadium through the month of August and are eager to welcome fans to the Scotiabank Saddledome in September.

Through the first three home games at McMahon Stadium, the Stampeders saw an average of 22,049 fans at each game. Two of their next three games will be on the road including going to Winnipeg and Edmonton. They will host one more home game at McMahon Stadium before the target date on September 6th against Edmonton.

It appears that the timing of the new policy came at the right moment after the announcement of the Edmonton Elks’ COVID-19 outbreak. Nine players on the Edmonton team have reportedly tested positive for COVID. The outbreak resulted in their game against the Toronto Argonauts game was postponed.

More news on the policy implementation is expected to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
