The Edmonton Elks return to action looking for their first win of the season against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a battle between the league’s two last-place teams.
After losing to the Ottawa REDBLACKS last week, the Elks have lost all six games by eight points or fewer. This was their fifth straight game with six points or less.Â
The league’s worst-scoring offence (146 points) scored only 14 points in Ottawa, the Elks’ lowest point total in a regular-season game since scoring 12 versus the Toronto Argonauts on October 6 last year.
Ticats come to town
The last-place Hamilton Tiger-Cats come roaring to the Oil City following a significant win over their arch-rival Toronto Argonauts last week.Â
For the Elks to notch their first victory of the season, they have to exploit the Ticats’ vulnerable defence, which, going into this week, allowed the most points in the league with 193. But the Elks’s defence, which ranks last in the league with an average of over 385 yards allowed, has a tall order in stopping the Hamilton offence, the second-best in the CFL with an average of 377.2 yards per contest.
