Former CFL Coach Jaime Elizondo Removed As Offensive Coordinator By XFL San Antonio

As reported by Tristin McKinstry of XFL News Hub, former CFL coach and one-time Edmonton Elks coach Jaime Elizondo has been relieved of his offensive coordinator duties with the XFL San Antonio Brahmas.

The move comes by San Antonio Brahmas head coach Hines Ward to shake up the offensive consistencies regarding the overall offensive production thus far in the 2023 XFL season.

Jimmie Johnson will now take over the offensive coordinator duties, while Jaime Elizondo will now take control of that as a wide receivers coach.

THE SEASON THUS FAR

Week 1.  San Antonio put up a total of 24 first downs to St. Louis’s 11. In the end, San Antonio’s offence would sputter with only putting up 15 points on the board in an 18-15 loss to the St. Louis Battlehawks. To make matters worse, San Antonio controlled the clock with an impressive 38.17 in time of possession.

Week 2.  The San Antonio Brahmas’ offence comes to life in a better offensive and all-round showing in a 30-12 victory over the Orlando Guardians.

Week 3.  The overall offensive production takes a step back as it was in week 1. The San Antonio Brahmas would stall to put up points on the board in a 22-13 defeat at the hands of the Houston Roughnecks.

Week 4.  San Antonio would hit rock bottom offensively in a 15-6 loss vs. the Seattle Dragons.

THE HINES WARD FACTOR

Simply put, we look at the mindset of a particular coach, player, and or executive in pro football. And Hines Ward is no different. He has played his entire career with the legendary Pittsburgh Steelers under benchmark coaches Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin. When you are part of a great franchise that instills hard work, effort, and the journey to achieve success, then there is a high level of expectations that come with it. That work ethic rubs onto you as you apply it in life, and it coincides with football. Hines Ward is Steeler for life. And that standard of the Pittsburgh Steelers way is what Hines Ward wants to implement with the San Antonio Brahmas.
