As they prepare for their week two matchup against the Montreal Alouettes, the Edmonton Elks made two notable signings to the main roster over the past 24 hours. The Elks also started their community tour.
Elks sign former Allouette (and Roughrider) Jones
On Tuesday, the Elks added depth to their receiving core by signing American receiver Tevin Jones.
Last season, Jones played with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and recorded career highs with 882 yards receiving, 65 receptions, and a pair of touchdowns in 17 games with the green and white. Jones spent two seasons (2022-2023) with Saskatchewan before heading to Montreal, where he spent the training camp before being cut before the regular season.
Josh Hagerty joins the Elks
On Monday, the Elks landed another piece to their developing secondary, signing Grey Cup champion National defensive back Josh Hagerty to the roster.Β
A 6th-round pick from the University of Saskatchewan in the 2021 CFL Draft, Hagerty was a Toronto Argonauts 2022 Grey Cup championship team member. Injuries plagued Hagerty throughout the last season, only playing three games with the double blue.
Elks give Timmies to fans in the community
On Tuesday, three members of the Elks roster were spreading goodness to the community as they embarked on this seasonβs community tour.Β
Mark Korte, Tanner Green, and Josiah Schakel stopped by a southwest Edmonton Tim Hortons in the afternoon to help out with the staff. Later in the day, they will host a CDMFA camp at the Jasper Place Bowl.Β
