Latest Team News: DB Lawson and DL Sanders Released by the Tiger-Cats

During Week 7 of the 2024 CFL season, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats broke through and earned their first win of the season when they defeated the Toronto Argonauts 27 to 24. In Week 8, the Tiger-Cats are moving their focus to pick up their successive win when they travel to face the Edmonton Elks on Sunday, July 28th. As Hamilton prepares for their next game, they also continue to manage their roster.

According to the CFL Transactions list, the Tiger-Cats have made several roster moves today, including moving three players from the active roster to the practice roster and releasing two other players. National defensive back Patrick Burke Jr. moves back to the Tiger-Cats practice roster after being activated to the game roster for the game against the Argonauts. Hamilton also moved American defensive back Will Sunderland to the practice roster, and American tight end Camren McDonald also moved to the practice roster.

The Tiger-Cats have also released American defensive back Dexter Lawson. During the 2023 season, Lawson played in nine games for the Tiger-Cats and recorded 29 tackles and an interception. In 2024, Lawson played in four games for Hamilton and registered 16 tackles.

The Tiger-Cats have also released American defensive lineman Kelle Sanders from their roster. Sanders joined the Tiger-Cats roster heading into training camp and he earned a spot on the practice roster after roster cuts were finalized after the pre-season had concluded. During the 2024 season, Sanders played in one game for the Tiger-Cats.
