Blue Bombers’ 8th overall pick in the CFL Global Draft and Winnipeg’s 36th overall pick in the CFL Draft. The price for Samson was low considering that the Tiger-Cats traded National running back Matthew Peterson, who returned to Alberta to play U Sports football rather than play for the Tiger-Cats, and pick 2 in the Global draft along with pick 39 in the 5th round of the CFL Draft.
In addition to making trades and selecting draft picks, the CFL Transactions list shows that the Tiger-Cats have also signed American offensive lineman Grant Starck and American defensive back Kendarius Smith. Stark comes to the Tiger-Cats after playing college football at Oregon State University and the University of Nevada. Smith comes to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats roster after finishing his college football career at Nicholls State University.
Tiger-Cats Sign American offensive lineman Grant Starck
Offensive lineman Grant Starck, a 6’4 “, 288-pound native of Springfield, Oregon, joins the Hamilton Tiger-Cats roster looking for an opportunity in the CFL after playing collegiately at the University of Nevada and Oregon State University. Starck played in 23 games for the Oregon State Beavers from 2023 until 2024. He transferred to Oregon State after playing 21 games at the University of Nevada from 2020 until 2022.
While playing for the Nevada Wolfpack, Starck started 11 games for Nevada. After transferring to Oregon State, Starck started in 17 games for the Beavers. Starck’s diverse experiences at the NCAA FBS level should allow Starck to compete for a roster spot with the Tiger-Cats once training camp starts before the 2025 CFL season.
Tiger-Cats Sign American defensive back Kendarius Smith
Defensive back Kendarius Smith’s signing with the Tiger-Cats allows Smith to show that he has what it takes to compete in the world of professional football. The 5’10”, 285-pound defensive back from Meridian, Mississippi, started his college football career at Holmes Community College, but in 2023 Smith transferred to NCAA FCS Nicholls State University. Smith spent two seasons at Nicholls State, where he played in 23 games for the Colonels, and he recorded 35 solo tackles, nine assists, 21 pass breakups, three interceptions, .5 tackles for loss, and forced one fumble.
