Tiger-Cats Bolster Roster with LB Kwamou and DB Horrall

As the Hamilton Tiger-Cats find themselves in a position to take control over the East division, Hamilton continues to add personnel to improve their depth at key positions. Those key positions include linebacker and defensive back. Hamilton added valuable National players to those positions, which simultaneously will make it easier for the Tiger-Cats to manage the ratio rule. According to an announcement made earlier today on Hamilton’s X account, the Tiger-Cats have signed National linebacker Daniel Kwamou and National defensive back Ronan Horrall, and they have released American linebacker Ozzie Nicholas and American running back Shane Watts.

Linebacker Daniel Kwamou is a 6’0″, 224-pound native of Calgary, Alberta. Kwamou played U Sports football at the University of British Columbia from 2018 until 2022. While playing for the Thunderbirds, Kwamou appeared in 26 games and recorded 109 tackles, including 64 solo tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three quarterback sacks, and three pass deflections.

During the 2022 CFL draft, the Toronto Argonauts selected Kwamou in the 5th round. Kwamou played in 13 games for the Argonauts, and he registered 10 special teams tackles. Kwamou should be capable of contributing for the Tiger-Cats on special teams and the defensive side of the ball as needed.

In addition to signing Kwamou, the Tiger-Cats have also re-signed 2025 6th-round CFL draft pick Ronan Horrall. Horrall started training camp with Hamilton after being drafted, but Hamilton released Horrall before the end of training camp. The 6’2″, 190-pound Horrall is a native of Ottawa, Ontario, and he joins a star-studded Tiger-Cats defensive secondary.

Like Kwamou, Horrall played U Sports football at UBC for four seasons. While playing in 25 games for the Thunderbirds, Horrall produced 32 tackles, including 15 solo tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback sack, and one forced fumble. Hamilton’s decision to re-sign Horrall gives him another opportunity to make an impact on the field for the Tiger-Cats.
