According to 3 Down Nation and the CFL Transactions list, the Tiger-Cats have signed tight end Thaddeus Moss. Moss is the son of NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss. This week, the Tiger-Cats have added several potential playmakers to the offensive side of the ball, including re-signing two-time CFL All-Star Tim White and signing wide receiver JohnCarlos Santana and running back Marcus Cooper.
While Thaddeus Moss’s father, Randy Moss, was considered an elite football player with freakish athletic ability, Thaddeus has taken a different path into professional football. The Washington Commanders signed Moss as an undrafted free agent in 2021, but he was waived and spent 2021 and 2022 with the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2023, Moss played in eight games for the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL, catching three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown.
What Moss lacks in on-field success in professional football, he makes up for with a championship pedigree. In 2019, Moss played on the National Champion LSU team, considered one of the best offensive units in the history of NCAA football. During the 2022 national championship game, he contributed to the Tiger’s victory by scoring two touchdowns, and in 2023, he helped the Birmingham Stallions win their second consecutive USFL championship.
The 6’2″, 249-pound tight end Moss is a native of Florence, Kentucky. In 2016, Moss started his college football career at North Carolina State University, playing in 13 games and catching six passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. Moss then transferred to LSU in 2017 and played 14 games for the Tigers during the 2019 season. While playing for the Tigers, Moss caught 47 passes for 570 yards and four touchdowns.
In the world of professional football, Moss has name recognition due to his father’s success. If Moss finds the right fit with a team at the professional level, he can also be successful. Moss is a complimentary role with wide receiver Tim White, potentially increasing playmaking opportunities for players and the Tiger-Cats offence.

The signing of Moss could be big for the CFL, especially if his father comes north for some games and grants more exposure vis-a-vis ESPN. Thaddeus has scored some big touchdowns in big games and the Tiger-Cats could use that kind of production. All the best to Thaddeus Moss in the CFL.
