The Montreal Alouettes announced on Friday the signing of 5 players, including re-signing quarterback E.J. Perry, who spent time on the Alouettes’ practice roster this past season. The Alouettes have also signed DL Westley Neal, OL R.J. Perry, WR Giles Jackson, and DB Terrence Spence.
QB E.J. Perry – Brown (6’2, 210 lbs)
Perry played in the UFL prior to signing with the Montreal Alouettes. He appeared in 6 games with 4 starts with the Memphis Showboats this past Spring, where he completed 55 of his 94 passes for 598 yards and 2 touchdowns with 5 interceptions. He also rushed 18 times for 71 yards and a touchdown.
In 2024, he started in 4 games for the Michigan Panthers as the team’s starter to open the season, where he completed 55 of his 89 passes for 664 yards and 2 touchdowns with 3 interceptions and rushed for 151 yards and 4 touchdowns on 23 rushes.
Perry made his debut with the Michigan Panthers in 2023 in the final regular-season game that the team needed to win to make the playoffs. In that game, he completed 12 of his 23 passes for 121 yards and rushed 10 times for 48 yards and a touchdown. In the playoff loss, he set a modern USFL record for passing yards in a game after completing 23 of his 38 passes for 370 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception.
Perry played for Brown University in 2019 and 2021 after transferring from Boston College. At Brown, he started in 20 games, completing 546 of his 862 passes (63.3%) for 5,981 yards and 45 touchdowns with 27 interceptions. He also rushed 253 times for 1,132 yards (4.47 average) and 15 touchdowns.
Perry spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the preseason and practice squad in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Perry’s greatest strength, in my opinion, is his ability to extend the play to make something happen when under pressure.
DL Westley Neal (6’0, 315 lbs)
Neal played for the University of Rhode Island from 2021 to 2024, where he appeared in 42 games, recording 121 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and 3 blocked kicks. In his final year, he played in 14 games, registering 41 total tackles, 6.5 TFLs, 4 sacks, an interception, and 2 passes defended.
LT R.J. Perry – South Florida (6’6, 330 lbs)
R.J. Perry attended a rookie minicamp with the New York Giants prior to signing with the Alouettes.
R.J. Perry began his collegiate career at Tennessee in 2020, where he switched from defensive line to offensive line. He played in 20 games for Tennessee across 2022 and 2021 before transferring to South Florida.
He played in 9 games for South Florida in 2023 with starts at multiple spots, 3 at left tackle, twice at left guard, once at right tackle, and once and right guard. In 2024, he started in 12 games at left tackle, helping the program record its second-most rushing yards in a season at 2,343 yards. He was selected to compete at the College Gridiron Classic following the season.
WR Giles Jackson – Washington (5’8, 187 lbs)
Jackson played in 45 games for Washington from 2021 to 2024, where he recorded 135 receptions for 1,414 yards and 9 touchdowns. 2024 was a breakout year for him as he caught 85 passes for 903 yards and 7 touchdowns over 13 games and added a rushing touchdown.
Prior to playing for Washington, he spent 2019 and 2020 with the Michigan Wolverines. He was an honorable Mention All-Big Ten in 2019 as a return specialist after recording a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown. He caught 9 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown in 2019. Jackson appeared in 5 games with Michigan in 2020, catching 15 passes for 167 yards and having a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown. He was named 2nd Team All-Big Ten in 2020.
Jackson was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2025, where he played in 2 preseason games and caught 2 passes for 9 yards.
CB Terrence Spence – James Madison (6’2, 200 lbs)
Terrence Spence played his final season of college ball for James Madison in 2024, where he played in 13 games with 10 starts at cornerback. He recorded 38 total tackles over the season and a forced fumble. In coverage, he had 12 passes defended and 5 interceptions. He was named First Team All-Sun Belt.
Spence played for Holy Cross from 2020 to 2023, where he played in 35 games with 13 starts. He was named Second Team All-Patriot League in 2023 and the recipient of the Davitt Award (team’s top defensive back) after recording 52 tackles, 2 interceptions, 4 PBUs, and 1 forced fumble. Over his time at Holy Cross, he recorded 84 tackles, 3 TFLs, 4 INTs, 18 PBUs, 1 FF, 1 FR, and six blocked kicks.
Spence was invited to a New York Giants rookie minicamp in 2025.
