Montreal Alouettes Re-Sign Special Teams Specialist Kerfalla Exume And Defensive Lineman Jabari Ellis

The Alouettes have announced they have re-signed special teams specialist Kerfalla Exume and defensive lineman Jabari Ellis. Exume is a former USports player and played college football at the University of Montreal. Ellis spent 2022 with the Alouettes and showed potential while getting on the field for Montreal during the last two games of the 2022 season. Montreal also announced that they have signed running back Jerry Howard Jr.

Let’s see what value these players add to the Alouettes 2023 roster.

Kerfalla Exume’s CFL career spans three seasons, and he has established himself as a special teams playmaker. The 6’0″, 197-pound Exume started his CFL career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after Winnipeg drafted Exume in the 8th round of the 2019 CFL Draft. During his rookie year, the Blue Bombers won the 2019 Grey Cup championship. Exume played for Montreal during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 2022, he produced six special teams tackles, and in 2021 he made 15 tackles on special teams.

Defensive lineman Jabari Ellis returns to the Alouettes for a 2nd season. Ellis played in the last two games of the 2022 regular season against the Toronto Argonauts and produced two defensive tackles. Before coming to the CFL, Ellis played four seasons at the University of South Carolina. While at South Carolina, the 6’3″, 290-pound Ellis accumulated 81 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass deflections, two recovered fumbles, and one defensive touchdown.

Montreal has also signed running back Jerry Howard Jr., who finished his college career at Townson University. The 6’0″, 230-pound running back from Rock Hill, South Carolina, started his college career at Georgia Tech and played his senior year at Towson University. During his four seasons at Georgia Tech, he accumulated 858 yards on 156 carries and seven touchdowns. He also had 12 pass receptions for 165 yards and a touchdown. In his season at Towson, he had 187 carries for 895 yards and three touchdowns. He added 134 receiving yards with 15 catches and one touchdown.
