Montreal Alouettes Sign 4 Defensive Players

The Montreal Alouettes have been busy signing 4 defensive players over 2 days. On Wednesday, the Alouettes signed DL Kylan Guidry and LB Desmond Igbinosun. On Thursday, the Alouettes signed DB Kahzir Brown and DL Decarius Hawthorne.

DL Kylan Guidry – Western Kentucky (6’4, 240 lbs)

Guidry played for Western Kentucky from 2022 to 2024 after playing Juco with Kilgore in 2020 and 2021. He appeared in just 2 games in 2022 with Western Kentucky before stepping into a bigger role. He played in 26 games with 15 starts in his final 2 seasons, recording 51 solo tackles, 48 assisted tackles, 3 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Guidry was recognized on the Phil Steele CUSA Third-Team Defense as a defensive end in his final season and was named to the Athlon Sports Preseason All-CUSA Third-Team as a linebacker.

He signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent last April but was released in final cuts. He played in 4 preseason games with the Chargers, recording a solo tackle and 5 assisted tackles.

LB Desmond Igbinosun – Rutgers (6’2, 213 lbs)

Desmon Igbinosun played for Rutgers from 2021 to 2024, appearing in 41 games with 29 starts at safety. He recorded 95 solo tackles, 91 assisted tackles, 15 TFLs, 2 sacks, 7 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery while at Rutgers.

He signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent but was released in the final cuts this past preseason. He played in 3 preseason games, recording 4 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles.

DB Kahzir Brown – Florida Atlantic (6’3, 210 lbs)

Kahzir Brown played his first 3 seasons of college ball in the FCS with Maine, where he played in 32 games with 26 starts and recorded 79 solo tackles, 63 assisted tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 6 interceptions, and 23 passes defended. He played his final season for Florida Atlantic in 2024, where he played in 12 games with 9 starts, recording 24 solo tackles, 20 assisted tackles, a forced fumble, 2 interceptions, and 10 passes defended.

Brown signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent in May, but was released in late July to make room for other signings.

DL Decarius Hawthorne – South Florida (6’2, 290 lbs)

Hawthorne played for Florida Atlantic from 2020 through 2023, where he played in 33 games with 3 starts, recording 17 solo tackles, 29 assisted tackles, and 5 sacks. He played his final collegiate season with South Florida in 2024, where he started in 13 games and recorded 17 solo tackles, 22 assisted tackles, 10.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, 2 passes defended, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He was named Second-Team All-AAC in 2024.

Hawthorne signed with the LA Rams as an undrafted free agent and was waived near final cuts. He played in 3 preseason games, recording a solo tackle and an assisted tackle. He was previously with the Alouettes on the practice roster after signing with the team on October 17, and became a free agent following the season, as CFL players on the practice roster do.
