The Montreal Alouettes signed linebacker Titus Wall on Tuesday. Wall played in 21 regular season games for the Calgary Stampeders over the last 2 seasons. He was the starting Sam linebacker in almost every game he was healthy for although he did have 1 start at safety which came in his 2nd game with the club.
Over the last 2 seasons, Wall has accumulated 93 tackles, 4 sacks, and 3 interceptions. Last season he had accumulated 54 tackles over 11 games before a season-ending injury brought an early end to the 2023 campaign.
Titus Wall makes good on his namesake as at times he plays like a wall. In addition to covering passes, he also had success defending against the run. He was the 8th highest-graded linebacker in run defense last season by Pro Football Focus. He was also named to the Pro Football Focus Team of the Week twice last season.
Prior to joining the CFL, Wall played his collegiate ball with Missouri State where he played in 54 games with 32 starts. He recorded 156 solo tackles, 104 assisted tackles, an interception, and a sack with the program.
Titus Wall brings a lot of talent to a position that had a vacuum created following the injury to Reggis Stubblefield who sustained a torn ACL in week 1. In week 2 Montreal started Bryce Cosby as Sam linebacker which saw Cosby record 7 tackles and a sack. Cosby also had 3 quarterback pressures. It will be interesting to see how Montreal utilizes Cosby and Wall moving forward.
