Montreal Alouettes Sign First-Round Pick LB Geoffrey Cantin-Arku

The Montreal Alouettes signed linebacker Geoffrey Cantin-Arku on Monday. The product of Memphis University was their first-round selection in the 2024 CFL Draft ninth overall. He had recently participated in the Miami Dolphins NFL rookie minicamp last week prior to signing with Montreal.

LB Geoffrey Cantin-Arku – Memphis (26 y/o, 6’3”, 240 lbs)

Geoffrey Cantin-Arku played in 25 games with 23 starts over the 2023 and 2022 seasons at Memphis. He made 76 solo tackles, 68 assisted tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, 3 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles, an interception, and a touchdown with the program.

In 2023 he was named an All-AAC Honorable Mention. In 2023 he was the 42nd highest-graded linebacker by PFF in the FCS with his highest grades being in run defense.

Cantin-Arku played for Syracuse prior to Memphis appearing in 30 games with 10 starts over 3 seasons. He recorded 108 total tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles with Syracuse.

At his pro day in March, he ran a 4.87-second 40-yard dash, a 4.32-second shuttle, and a 6.97-second 3-cone drill. He also performed a 32-inch vertical, 9”11’ broad jump, and 18 reps on the bench.

Cantin-Arku is originally from Lévis, Quebec which is just across the river from Quebec City. Prior to playing football, he grew up playing hockey before switching to football because of the financial burdens associated with hockey.
