Montreal Alouettes to Unveil Eighth Grey Cup Banner in June

As anticipation builds for the upcoming Canadian Football League 2024 season, the Montreal Alouettes are preparing a special event to honor their recent championship triumph. On June 20, prior to their Week 3 confrontation with the Ottawa Redblacks, the Alouettes will unveil their eighth Grey Cup banner. The significant occasion will take place at Percival Molson Stadium, with a scheduled 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

The team is set to embark on the 2024 campaign with back-to-back away games. Their first challenge sends them against Western Division opponents, starting with a game in Winnipeg on June 6, followed by Edmonton on June 14. The Alouettes look to carry the momentum from their inspirational 28-24 victory over the favoured Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the last year’s championship game, which marked their first Grey Cup since 2010.

The Alouettes achieved a remarkable comeback, overturning a ten-point halftime deficit in the grand final played on November 19. With just 13 seconds left on the clock, Cody Fajardo connected with Tyson Philpot for a 19-yard touchdown, clinching the title. Fajardo’s performance earned him the title of the game’s Most Valuable Player, while Philpot took home the Most Valuable Canadian honors.

The excitement of the Grey Cup resonated across Canada, with TSN reporting that 8.9 million viewers tuned in at some point during the 110th Grey Cup. Notably, viewership peaked at 5.2 million in the dramatic final minute.

Montreal celebrated their champions with a parade down Boul de Maisonneuve, drawing large crowds following their victory. The Alouettes were happy to announce a surge in fan support, with more than 700 new season tickets sold subsequent to their Grey Cup win.

Fans, players, and analysts alike eagerly await the new season to see if the Alouettes can rise to the occasion once more and defend their title, starting with their home field celebration in June.

Fans of the Alouettes can get an early look at the 2024 team on Saturday, May 25, at 7:30 pm, as the Montreal team hosts the Toronto Argonauts for a pre-season match.

The CFL’s 2024 Grey Cup is scheduled for Sunday, November 17, at B.C. Place Stadium. The pre-season kicks off on May 20, featuring Winnipeg’s visit to Saskatchewan.
