Montreal Extend Reliable Kicker David Côté Through 2024

The Montreal Alouettes have extended kicker David Côté through 2024.

Côté was the fourth most accurate kicker in field goals in the CFL during his second season in 2022. He made 44 of 51 field goals in the regular season during the campaign. He also added 6 field goals in the playoffs on 7 attempts.

Côté showed improvement in 2022 finishing with a field goal percentage of 86.3% increasing from 82.1 In 2021 he had 82.1% of field goals made.

In 2021 Côté was drafted in the fifth round (45th overall). In his rookies season, he was named the Alouettes’ Most Outstanding Special Teams Player as well as Most Outstanding Rookie.

This signing allows Côté the opportunity to stay in his home province as he was born in Quebec City. He also played his collegiate ball in the province of Quebec representing Laval.

“I am very happy about this turn of events and to be able to wear an Alouettes’ uniform for even longer, as the future is promising in Montreal” stated Côté.

“The summer should be nice and warm in our stadium, and I am looking forward to reconnecting with our fans and re-create more great memories with them.”

Alouettes General Manager Danny Maciocia also stated his thoughts on the retention of Côté’s services

“Since his arrival in Montreal, this young man has never ceased to impress us with his talent and how he remains cold blooded, which is the strength of good kickers”, stated Maciocia. “We are extremely pleased to be able to count on his excellent services for even longer.”
