Roughriders Sign DL Charles Akanno

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are gearing up for their Coors Light Training Camp to commence at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on May 10th. As we approach the beginning of CFL training camps the Roughriders have added another player to their roster, Charles Akanno.

Akanno will be entering his first CFL season in 2023. He previously played his college ball for the University of Idaho. The defensive player played in Idaho from 2017 to 2021.  While playing for the Idaho Vandals he recorded 20.5 sacks, 147 tackles and 9 forced fumbles.

While Akanno has no professional football experience as of yet his college statistics standout and the Roughriders hope to have found a diamond in the rough in the 250 pound lineman. Akanno is also still only 25 years old and should have years of football experience ahead of him.
