Winnipeg At Montreal – HUGE Playoff Implications!

Ask anyone who has played the game, and there is no such thing as a “meaningless game”!

For Winnipeg, this game is anything but meaningless. They are fighting for first place in the West! For Montreal, they really do not want to go into the playoffs with a 2 game losing skid and a by week. So I expect both teams to compete hard.

It is for that reason that I am a bit surprised that Montreal’s last outing – which was terrible by all accounts – vs. BC has made the odds makers favour Winnipeg. If anything, that 27-3 Montreal loss vs. BC should act a fuel for Montreal to really bring it! For the record, I do not expect Montreal to get throttled as bad this week. That game as an anomaly for Montreal. The Bombers would be wide to not listen to the odds makers and bring their A-game!

Montreal will be playing in font of a wild crowd that has already sold over 21,000 tickets for the game. Winnipeg better keep their eye on Tyrice Beverette who has 2 interceptions on the year, 98 defensive tackles, 9 special teams tackles, and 4 sacks. That latter number is one to watch as Winnipeg gave up a ton of sacks in their last game vs. Toronto. Montreal beat the Bombers in the 2023 Grey Cup and in their only meeting in 2023.

The Bombers should be in good shape, player wise, when they face Montreal.

At thsi point in the season, the Bombers are taking nothing fro granted, and are working on strengthening their ranks for 2025.

For the Bombers vs Montreal, it is simple…win and you are in! But for all the scenarios, here it is.

Well, it looks like Fajardo will be starting. How much he plays is yet to be seen.

And here is a look at how the Bombers will stack up.

Here’s What Winnipeg Needs To Do To Win:
For the Bombers to win, and take control of first in the West there are a few keys that they must execute.
First, they have to protect the ball. Yes, it sounds simple…but it is an absolute must. Then the Bombers must protect Collaros. Collaros, at times, can try and do too much. That often occurs when he is under pressure. Montreal, much like Toronto is dressing 9 D-Linemen. That would seem to indicate that they intend to rotate guys in and bring the pressure. Collaros needs to take the sack if they are in field goal range or throw it away out of bounds. After that, the receivers need to make plays. The defense needs to protect their ground…and it would be very nice if their special teams were actually special! Do that, and the Bombers win, and will host the Western Final. Don’t, well then we will all be watching the Saskatchewan game – looking for help – and cheering for Calgary to upset Saskatchewan.
