Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign Former NFL player Donald Rutledge Jr.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that the club has signed American defensive player Donald Rutledge, Jr.

Rutledge is a six-foot-one 210 American defensive back out of Georgia Southern University. Rutledge started his his amateur career at Citadel university as redshirt freshman, before transferring to Savannah State University where he would spend his next three season at. At Savannah State, he appeared in 31 games totaling 164 total tackles 16 pass breaks, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He transferred to play his final season at Georgia Southern where he played in 12 games racking up 50 total tackles, five pass breaks and one interception.

After the conclusion of his senior year at Georgia Southern, he declared for the 2020 NFL. He would go on to sign with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and spent the entire training camp with the team before his release. Rutledge, Jr. signed with the Cardinals in January of 2021 and attended camp last year before being released.
