Super Bowl broke all bookmakers’ records

This past Super Bowl was the first one for which bets were accepted almost all over the United States. On this occasion, sports experts had high hopes that the financial results of the largest bookmakers would be great, and they were justified.

Betting analytics company GeoComply recorded more than 100 million bets over the weekend, an increase of 25 percent over 2022. At State Farm Stadium itself, as well as nearby, 100,000 transactions were recorded at the time of the match.

Bookmaker FanDuel reported that the system accepted more than 50 thousand bets per minute at times of peak activity, and the total number of active users on the site exceeded 2 million.

According to another bookmaker MGM, the Super Bowl was the biggest sports betting event in history. The biggest bet on the platform was $525,000 on a Kansas City Chiefs win.

But at the Draft Kings betting site, a user bet $1.68 million on a Chiefs win, which earned him a $2.68 million win.

Recall that the American Gaming Association predicted that more than 50 million Americans would place at least one bet this weekend, and the total amount of bets could exceed $16 billion. True, this prediction included betting not only at legal betting shops but also on offshore sites operating from abroad. As we know, Americans actively play at Canadian casinos with a good reputation and place bets at foreign bookmakers’ offices, despite the lack of licenses for the sites and the ban on online gambling.

The most interesting thing is that many bookmakers already have open lines of bets on the Super Bowl, which will be held in 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. True, it is not yet clear which teams will participate in the finals.

Super Bowl is the final match for the title of champion of the National Football League. Today it is equated with a national holiday in the United States and is celebrated not only on the day of the game but also all weekend.

Held annually in February, the U.S. national anthem and superstar appearances between rounds precede the game. For example, this year, it was Rihanna, and last year it was Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar.

So, for ordinary Americans, it’s not just a soccer game but a real national event to watch live or on TV.
