Peterborough-based video game studio Canuck Play Inc. has developed the first Canadian soccer sports game to be released on Xbox One and PC. When Canadian Football 2017 was certified for release on Xbox One, it became the first Canadian game released on a central console. The announcement was made by the president and co-founder of Canuck Play Inc. David Winter. And he did so with a sense of well-deserved pride. Fans say they’re willing to buy an Xbox One just for the chance to play Canadian soccer on it. But they’ll have to wait—the game will officially release at midnight on July 26 on Xbox One and Steam for PC gamers.
The game will cost $15.99—that’s 21 Canadian dollars. This is the same price as Xbox One and Steam as part of online marketing. By now, there are already agreements in place with Canuck Play to develop the game on the Sony PlayStation in the not-so-distant future.
Michael Skinner, president and CEO of the Peterborough and Kawarthas Innovation Cluster, which the developer joined in 2016, said the project has been endlessly persistent in its development. Professionals have been actively working on getting it to market, and the game’s release was a new significant milestone in this work.
Canuck Play’s mission was to bring Canada’s sports, heroes, and culture to the gaming space. The gaming industry contributed $3 billion to Canada’s GDP in 2016.
This figure would be even higher considering the iGaming sphere. There are many new games here, one of the most popular being Plinko. You can learn more about it on gambling-related websites, the most visited of which is http://www.plinkogames.in/. The latter features online casinos where you can play Plinko for real money.Â
Every detail of Canadian Football 2017, including the animation used to create the character’s movements using a motion capture suit, has been carefully worked out. Everything has been done to ensure that players on different platforms can enjoy the gameplay to the fullest. As the game approached its release date, more and more people became interested in it. Even professional gamers on Twitter participated in the discussion of the game, which was a great success.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Canuck Play has developed a Canadian soccer video game. In 1998, they released the first officially licensed video game by the Canadian Football League and the CFL Players Association. Wintervalley Software also released Maximum Football for the PC in 2006. In this game, North American soccer could be played under three types of rules—Canadian, American, and indoor. The game was categorized as an arcade/simulation game.Â
