BC Lions Release 16 Players in Final Cuts, Sign 11 to Practice Roster

The BC Lions announced the release of 16 players ahead of the CFL season, as well as signing 11 to the practice roster. Among the notable releases was Simon Fraser alumnus Canadian WR Rysen John, who spent time previously with the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and Calgary Stampeders.

RB Jordan Terrell (American) – Barton College

Jordan Terrell appeared in 3 games for BC last seasonrushing 4 times for 24 yards and catching 1 pass for a 24-yard touchdown. He rushed 6 times for 31 yards in the first preseason game and 5 times for 18 yards in the 2nd preseason game.

WR Rashard Davis (American) – James Madison

Davis dressed in 4 games for the Lions back in 2021, catching a pass for 12 yards. He caught an 8-yard pass in each of the preseason games this year.

WR Jared Gipson (American) – Sacramento State

Gipson caught 2 passes for 21 yards in the first preseason game and 2 passes for 18 yards in the 2nd.

WR Hayden Hatten (American) – Idaho

Hatten led the team in receiving in the final preseason game, catching 3 of 4 targets for 62 yards.

WR Rysen John (National) – Simon Fraser

Rysen John caught a 13-yard pass in the first preseason game.

WR Juwan Manigo (American) – Delaware Valley

Manigo was an impressive return man in the UFL last season with the Arlington Renegades. He caught 3 passes for 21 yards in the preseason. He returned 2 punts for 11 yards and 3 kickoffs for 61 yards this preseason.

WR Preston Smith (American) – Davenport

Smith caught his only target for 21 yards in the 2nd preseason game.

OL M.J. Ale (American) – Washington

Ale played in the first preseason game as a 2nd string left guard and allowed 2 total pressures by my count.

OL Dre Doiron (National) – Kansas

Doiron dressed as a 2nd string right guard in the first preseason game and allowed only 1 pressure by my count.

DL Juliano Falaniko (American) – Fresno State

Falaniko played in 4 games for BC last year, recording 4 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble. He was credited with 2 tackles in the first preseason game and was in on a shared run stop and solo pass stop by my count.

LB Mike Smith Jr. (American) – Baylor

Smith had 4 tackles and a special teams tackle in the first preseason game and 2 tackles in the 2nd. He was an efficient run stopper, being in on a solo run stop, 4 shared run stops, and a shared pass stop by my count.

DB Johnny Dixon (American) – Penn State

Dixon was credited with 1 tackle in each preseason game. The first game he had 1 reception, his way for 6 yards, although there were 2 penalties in coverage.

DB Tanner Moku (American) – Washington St

Moku had 2 tackles in the 2nd preseason game.

DB Jordan Perryman (American) – Washington

Perryman appeared in 10 games for the Lions last season, recording 7 tackles, a forced fumble, and 6 special teams tackles. He had 3 tackles in each preseason game.

DB A.J. Uzodinma (American) – Ball State

Uzodinma had 3 tackles in the first preseason game. 

K Mark McNamee (Global-Ireland)

McNamee made a 32-yard field goal in the first preseason game and a 42-yarder in the 2nd. He also made 2 extra points.
