BC Lions Sign Wyoming Alumn WR Michael Fitzgerald II, Kentucky Alumn DL David Gusta, Washington State Alumn DL Buddha Peleti, Release 5 Others

The BC Lions announced a flurry of moves on Monday with the signing of 3 American players as well as the release of 5 players. The Lions have signed wide receiver Michael Fitzgerald II and defensive linemen David Gusta and Buddha Peleti.

The Lions also announced the release of defensive back Marquis Bridges, linebacker Marvin Grant, quarterback Gevani McCoy, defensive back Jamal Parker, and running back Antonio Wimbush.

WR Michael Fitzgerald II (6’6, 210 lbs)

Michael Fitzgerald II started his collegiate career with Massachusetts, where he saw limited action in 2021 and 2022. He dressed for 13 games but only caught 3 passes for 35 yards. He transferred to Central Missouri to change his stars at the D2 level in 2023 and 2024. He caught 55 passes for 835 yards and 2 touchdowns with Central Missouri.

Fitzgerald played his final collegiate season with Wyoming in 2025, where he played in 12 games with 3 starts and caught 19 passes for 263 yards and 3 touchdowns.

DL David Gusta (6’3, 316 lbs)

David Gusta played for Washington State from 2021 to 2024, where he played in 32 games with 23 starts, recording 28 solo tackles, 35 assisted tackles, and 2.5 sacks. He transferred to Kentucky, where he started in 12 games and made 3 solo tackles, 9 assisted tackles, and a sack.

He was invited to the 2026 NFL Combine, where he recorded a 4.88 time on the 40-yard dash and 37 reps on the bench press. 

DL Buddha Peleti (6’2, 250 lbs)

Buddha Peleti suited up in 36 games at New Mexico State from 2021-24, where he made 58 27 solo tackles and 31 assists, 13 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and one pass knockdown. He moved to Washington State for his senior campaign in 2025, where he recorded 22 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and four sacks over 13 games.
