Blue Bombers and Michael Couture agree to a one-year contract extension 

WINNIPEG, MB. – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have announced that the club has agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension with offensive Linemen Michael Couture.

Today, Couture showed his excitement to be returning for his sixth season with the blue and gold tweeted “fired up to be staying for another year! #ForTheW”

Couture is a six-foot-four 305 pound Canadian offensive linemen out of the University of Simon Fraser.

At Simon Fraser University Couture played four seasons at Simon Fraser, making 36 starts over that span. During his amateur career Couture spent time playing four different positions on the offensive line. His immense versatility lauded him to be named Great Northwest Conference First Team All-Star at center in 2014 and at tackle in 2015.

After his amateur career, Couture was drafted in the second round (10th overall) by the Blue Bombers in the 2016 CFL Draft.

During his career, he appeared in 86 games included in back-to-back Grey Cup Championships. He continued being versatile for the embers playing guard, tackle, and center during his tenure with the blue and gold. He was recently named as the CFLPA All-Star for the 2021 season.
