Calgary Stampeders Expand Their Roster

The Calgary Stampeders have made a addition to their defensive lineup by signing American defensive back Meiko Dotson.

Dotson, standing at five-foot-11 and weighing 195 pounds, brings a wealth of experience from various levels of football. After participating in a rookie mini-camp with the NFL’s Houston Texans in 2022, he ventured into the United States Football League, where he played for the New Jersey Generals. Over nine games, Dotson made an impact with 14 tackles, displaying his abilities on a professional stage.

Dotson’s Collegiate Achievements

Prior to his professional pursuits, Dotson honed his skills at colleges, culminating his college career with two seasons at Florida State. During his time with the Seminoles, he played 10 games, securing 21 tackles and forcing a fumble, showcasing his defensive prowess.

Dotson’s 2019 season at Florida Atlantic marked a high point in his collegiate journey. He was awarded first-team all-Conference USA honors after an outstanding season where he set a school record with nine interceptions as well as achieving 30 tackles. This period of his career underlines his knack for making game-changing plays.

A Diverse Football Background

Dotson’s journey through football began even earlier, with his time at Georgia Tech in 2016, where he participated in 12 games. Additionally, his tenure at Garden City Community College in 2017 was notable for four interceptions, including a pick-six, and 28 tackles, further proving his capability and versatility as a defensive player.

With this new addition, the Stampeders are looking forward to a season with fortified defensive strategies, hoping Dotson’s past performances translate into success on the field.
