Edmonton Elks Welcome New Quarterback

The Edmonton Elks have officially announced the signing of American quarterback Kaleb Eleby, marking a new chapter for the team’s quarterback lineup. Eleby, hailing from Maryland Heights, MO., transitions to the Canadian Football League following a noteworthy collegiate career and brief professional experiences in the XFL and NFL.

Eleby’s Collegiate Achievements

During his tenure at Western Michigan University from 2019 to 2021, Eleby impressed on the field, throwing for 6,084 yards and 45 touchdowns across 24 games. His standout season in 2021 saw him pass for 3,277 yards and 23 touchdowns, earning him a spot on the All-MAC second team—a testament to his skill and leadership as a quarterback.

Professional Journey Before CFL

Prior to joining the CFL, Eleby entered the professional football arena through the 2023 XFL Draft, where he was picked by the Houston Roughnecks. In his limited appearance, he completed four of seven passes for 28 yards. Additionally, in 2022, Eleby was given a chance to hone his skills at the Seattle Seahawks NFL rookie mini-camp, further broadening his experience in professional football.

With this new signing, the Edmonton Elks bolster their quarterback roster, adding a player with both a commendable college track record and practical experience from other football leagues.
