Toronto Argonauts Retain Dejon Brissett

In a strategic move to retain key talent, the Toronto Argonauts have successfully extended their contract with national wide receiver Dejon Brissett. This development comes just before Brissett was set to become a free agent on February 13, solidifying his place in the team’s future plans.

A Season of Career Highs

The 2023 CFL season proved to be a breakout year for Brissett, who delivered exceptional performances on the field. At 27, he recorded career highs by catching 38 passes for a total of 594 yards, along with securing five touchdowns in 18 games. Besides his offensive contributions, Brissett also made a mark on special teams, tying for fifth on the team with 11 tackles.

Brissett’s Rise in the CFL

Since being drafted second overall in the 2020 CFL Draft, the six-foot-one, 195-pound receiver has been a valuable asset for the Argonauts. Over 47 games, Brissett has amassed a total of 57 receptions for 827 yards and six touchdowns, in addition to 18 special teams tackles. His college tenure, split between the University of Virginia in 2019 and Richmond University from 2015-2018, laid a strong foundation for his professional career. Notably, his junior season achievements earned him First Team All-CAA honors.
