Just days after re-signing 13 different Argos and adding five others to their offseason roster. The Toronto Argonauts have announced two more re-signings, OTs Isiah Cage and Trevon Tate while adding free-agent wide receiver Aleva Hifo.
The return of projected 2022 starters at offensive tackle, Cage, and Tate, gives the Double Blue added depth alongside standout OT Dejon Allen.
The question mark becomes what the team will do at left tackle with grizzled 37-year-old vet Philip Blake slated to hit free agency. Retirement could be in the cards for the Toronto native and longtime CFL standout Blake.
Trevon Tate and Isiah Cage endured an injury-plagued 2022 campaign. Cage, in particular, has struggled mightily attempting to overcome the injury bug. As a result, the Argonauts’ front office might further address the position through the draft and free agency.
Toronto is two months away from CFL free agency. The 2022 CFL Champion Argonauts still have 23 remaining impending free agents after today’s transactions. The FA period begins on February 14th.
