Vernon Adams Puts On Clinic in Big Win at Ottawa

The Montreal Alouettes went on the road and beat the Ottawa REDBLACKS 51-29. This was the first of 4 2021 matchups between the 2 teams.

A big partnof that win was the okay of Als QB Vernon Adams Jr, who went 18 of 23, 288 YDS , and 4 TD. His best game previously was against Calgary, where he was 20/42, 261 yards, 2 YDs and 1 INT.

“I really had fun, I really was myself. I was out there just pumped up and just ready to go. I saw the field clearly and receivers were making great plays for me. (William) Stanback running the rock hard, o-line doing their thing in the passing game and the running game, really helped me out a lot.”

He had some help, though, RB William Stanback repeated his Week 1 rushing performance with 112 yards, but didn’t hit paydirt.

WR Eugene Lewis had his best game of the year as well with 5 receptions for 120 yards, and 2 TD. Not to be outdone, Jake Weinkie had his 2nd 100-yard game performance of the year with 7 catches for 118 yards and 2 scores.

But the game was always in the hands of Adams Jr. He added 35 yards on the ground and for just the 1st time this year, he had complete control of the pocket, commonting 0 turnovers.

For the former Alouettes MOP, this is a huge momentum builder, heading into their next game at home vs the BC Lions.

“I just want to reach out to all my peers who reached out to me throughout the league, former players and media guys who really care for me and told me to keep my head. I just want to say thank you to all those guys,” Adams Jr., said of the support he received through the week following a 1-2 start to the season.”

This win could be the catalyst for this Alouettes team to make a run for the 2021 Grey Cup. If so, it’ll be because Adams Jr keeps this incredible performance going.
