Argos WR Kurleigh Gittens Jr. Named CFL Top Performer For Week 14

For the second time this season, Argos’ standout WR Kurleigh Gittens Jr. has been named as a CFL top performer. The Canadian wideout and homegrown draft pick of the Argonauts is coming off a stellar performance against Ottawa last weekend. In the Boatmen’s 24-19 triumph over the Redblacks. Gittens recorded eight receptions for 161 yards and a touchdown.

The Wilfred Laurier product had a career-best effort in his hometown. The Ottawa-raised receiver has 57 receptions for 759 yards and three touchdowns this season, and he is on pace to go over a thousand yards in his final six games. Gittens had 50 receptions for 605 yards and four touchdowns a year ago.

Gittens Jr. and the East-leading, 7-5 Argonauts’ are off this week but will resume play back in Kurleigh’s hometown on Saturday, September 24th, against the Redblacks.

ARGOS WR KURLEIGH GITTENS JR. NAMED CFL TOP PERFORMER FOR WEEK 14

TORONTO – The Canadian Football League announced today that WR Kurleigh Gittens Jr. has been named a CFL Top Performer for Week 14.

Gittens Jr. had a homecoming he won’t soon forget as the Ottawa native arrived in the nation’s capital for an afternoon tilt with the REDBLACKS and left with eight receptions for 161 yards, one touchdown, and an Argos victory. The third-year Argonaut’s 161 yards were a new career-high while his eight catches tied a career-best. The Wilfrid Laurier product has already set career-highs in receptions (57) and yards (759), which are both tops amongst Canadian receivers in the CFL in 2022 and sixth and ninth, respectively, in the league. Gittens Jr. was also named a Top Performer in Week 7 after an 8-152-1 line in a win against Saskatchewan in July. He has helped the Argos to a 7-5 record, tops in the East.
