
The BC Lions announced on Tuesday the signings of 2 American defensive backs: Donovan “D.K.” Kaufman and Duron Lowe.
DB Donovan “D.K.” Kaufman – NC State (5’10, 210 lbs)
Kaufman signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent on July 28 after attending a rookie minicamp with the team earlier in the offseason and was waived by the club on August 5 of this year.
He began his collegiate career with Vanderbilt in 2020, where he started in 2 games and made 15 total tackles.
Kaufman played for Auburn from 2021 to 2023, where he played in 32 games with 18 starts. With Auburn, he recorded 107 total tackles (72 solo, 35 assisted), 8 TFLs, 2 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 2 interceptions, and 6 passes defended.
He played his final season with NC State in 2024, where he started in all 13 games and recorded 74 total tackles (40 solo, 34 assisted), 3.5 TFLs, 1 sack, 1 FF, 2 FR, 5 passes defended, an interception, and a touchdown
Kaufman has also returned 23 kickoffs in his collegiate career, averaging 29 yards per return.
DB Duron Lowe – Liberty (5’11, 190 lbs)
Duron Lowe began his collegiate career as a JUCO player with Butler (KS) from 2016 to 2017 before transferring to UTEP, where he appeared in 19 games with 18 starts from 2019 to 2020.
With UTEP, he recorded 44 total tackles (36 solo, 8 assisted), 3 TFLs, 9 passes defended, 2 interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He also returned 20 kickoffs, averaging 28.6 yards per return, with a 100-yard touchdown return in each season.
Lowe played his final season of college ball with Liberty in 2021, where he started in all 13 games. He recorded 31 total tackles (21 solo, 10 assisted), 1 TFL, 8 passes defended, and 2 interceptions.
He signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He appeared in 3 NFL preseason games with the Rams in 2022, recording 9 total tackles. The following year, he appeared in a preseason game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 2 with the Kansas City Chiefs, recording 2 total tackles.
Lowe was with the Arlington Renegades in 2024, where he played in 4 games in the UFL, recording 5 total tackles and an interception. He was with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in training camp last year.
