Montreal Alouettes Sign North Carolina Alumni OL Jakai Moore, Texas at San Antonio Alumni TE Oscar Cardenas

The Montreal Alouettes announced the signing of 2 American players on Thursday, including offensive lineman Jakai Moore and tight end Oscar Cardenas, to 2-year CFL entry deals.

OL Jakai Moore – North Carolina (6’6, 318 lbs)

Jakai Moore played for South Carolina from 2019 through 2024, appearing in 44 games with 28 starts over 5 seasons. He was utilized in many spots with the program and had 13 starts at left tackle, 7 at left guard, 4 at right guard, and 4 at right tackle.

Moore played his final collegiate season with North Carolina in 2025, where he started in all 12 games at right tackle. He had strong grades from Pro Football Focus in his final season as a pass blocker at 72.4.

TE Oscar Cardenas – Texas at San Antonio (6’4, 265 lbs)

Oscar Cardenas played for the University of Texas at San Antonio from 2019 to 2024, where he appeared in 65 games with 40 starts over 6 seasons. He caught 95 passes over his career for 1,138 yards and 0 touchdowns. He was named Second-Team All-AAC in 2024, Third-Team in 2023, and an honorable mention in 2022.

Cardenas had his most yards in 2022 when he caught 31 passes for 438 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had his most receptions in 2023 when he caught 32 passes for 280 yards and 2 touchdowns. And his most touchdowns in a season in 2024, when he caught 13 passes for 141 yards and 3 touchdowns over 9 games.

Cardenas signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2025 and dressed in 3 preseason games but did not record a reception and was released in the final cuts. He did have a solid pass blocking grade from PFF at 73.1, although he did not see many snaps over the preseason.
