BC Lions Star Wide-out Lucky Whitehead To Undergo Surgery

On Monday, October 4th the BC Lions announced that WR1 Lucky Whitehead will undergo surgery this Wednesday after breaking his hand during the 30-9 loss against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

“I mean, I could feel that it wasn’t getting any better so I tried to just take some medicine to just numb the pain and go off adrenalin but it just wasn’t getting any better, I had a big pad on it. I had taped both my fingers together so I couldn’t really move my fingers. I couldn’t move the inside of my hand. The pain was just too much so once I knew I wasn’t effective, I had dropped one of the passes on the sideline, I tried to catch it with one hand in my body, I just took myself out.

As of Week 10, Whitehead is 2nd in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, he is averaging 74 yards a game. He has recorded 665 yards (335 coming after the catch) and 4 touchdowns on 36 receptions.

Lucky Whitehead is set to miss 2-4 weeks, hopefully returning for their November 5th, Week 14 game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The BC Lions are entering their bye week before taking on the Calgary Stampeders in Week 11. Kick-off for the Lions-Stampeders game is Saturday, October 16th at 7:00 PM EST.
