Bombers Free Agency Day 1: A Slow Day

At the time of writing this Day #1 of Free Agency was a slow day for the Bombers (so expect a lot of signings before this is published…that just seems to be the way it goes).

What We Know

Thiadric Hanson is headed to Toronto.

These players are heading to Free Agency:

Hardrick is heading to Saskatchewan and responds to blow back.

Prukop is going to the Lions.

Takeaways

For me, the two biggest questions are at the kicker and quarterback positions.

Will the Bombers get a deal done with Castillo? Will he go to another team? Will he hang it up and call it a career? Unless the Bombers re-sign Castillo I have serious concerns about their kicking game. Do not get me wrong; I trust the Bombers’ management. I just do not see another kicker on the market. Maybe their scouting department has someone in mind.

My other big concern is at the quarterback position. Yes the Bomber have Collaros and Streveler; but they need a third quarterback. This is a league where you need three quarterbacks on the roster.

Honorable mention of concern goes to the receiving groups. It is well noted that Rasheed Bailey took a pay cut to stay with the Bombers last year. Yet he is heading to free agency. Compounding that problem is that Brendan ‘Leary Orange is also testing the market. The Bombers will need to find some more receivers if those two sign elsewhere.

What is your biggest concern? Who should the Bombers prioritize in re-signing or signing from another team’s free agency list? Let me know in the comments section wherever you are reading this.
