Canada to Open its Borders to Fully Vaccinated Americans August 9th

Canadian officials released a statement today that it will lift travel restrictions to fully vaccinated Americans on August 9th. Four days after the CFL begins its augmented season.

Children under the age of 12 who travel with parents who have received the full vaccine will be exempt from quarantine regulations. So, if you’re wanting to take the family to a game, you can.

Travelers must have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of travel, and be able to show that they are fully vaccinated.

Canadian Public Safety Minister Bill Blair had this to say about removing the restrictions before anyone else in the world:

“[It] is an acknowledgment and recognition of our shared border, and our close relationship.”

The country is planning to lift restrictions for other countries in September.

The CFL kicks off its 2021 season on August 5th. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats play the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the season opener.
