The BC Lions rallied from an early deficit to defeat the Edmonton Elks 37-24 at BC Place on Friday night, securing their fifth consecutive victory and eliminating Edmonton from playoff contention. After trailing 10-2, BC scored 25 unanswered points to take control, with Nathan Rourke throwing for 338 yards and rushing for a career-long 70-yard touchdown. The Lions improved to 10-7 on the season while the Elks fell to 7-10, officially ending their playoff hopes.

The Lions overcame a slow start to dominate the final three quarters, outscoring Edmonton 35-14 after halftime. BC’s offence generated 532 yards while the defence forced three interceptions and created crucial turnovers at key moments.

With the loss, Edmonton has been officially eliminated from playoff contention at 7-10, while the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Calgary Stampeders both secured post-season berths. In the current CFL standings, Saskatchewan leads the West Division at 12-5, followed by BC at 10-7, Calgary at 9-7, and Winnipeg at 9-8. Hamilton tops the East Division at 10-7, with Montreal at 9-7. The Lions are now in position to host the Western Semi-Final with one regular season game remaining.

Nathan Rourke’s perfect 6-0 record against Edmonton continued as he delivered one of his best performances of the season. The 70-yard rushing touchdown was the longest run of his CFL career and highlighted BC’s explosive offensive capabilities. With five straight wins, the Lions have turned their season around at the right time heading into the playoffs.
