The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are strategically reshaping their roster early in the 2024 season. On Monday, they made significant moves by signing former Calgary Stampeders American defensive back Jonathan Moxey and officially releasing National linebacker Bailey Feltmate. Additionally, they added American defensive lineman Kobe Jones to their active roster from the league suspension list, as per the CFL Transactions list.
The Tiger-Cats re-signed Feltmate in December 2023 after he had appeared in 16 games for Hamilton, recording one defensive tackle and 15 special teams tackles. On May 10th, the Tiger-Cats announced they moved Feltmate to the retirement list. Surprisingly, the Tiger-Cats released Feltmate, but he has decided to revoke his retirement status and is now a free agent. Hamilton acquired the 6’2″, 240-pound linebacker in the second round of the 2020 CFL Draft, and he played three seasons with the Tiger-Cats, appearing in 43 games, registering four defensive tackles and 35 special teams tackles.
Defensive lineman Kobe Jones, a 6’3″, 255-pound native of Starkville, Mississippi, is returning to the Tiger-Cats active roster after a stint on the league suspension list. Jones, who has NFL experience with the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, and the Carolina Panthers, is a valuable addition to the team’s defensive line.
Jones played college football at Mississippi State University from 2016 until 2020. While playing for the Bulldogs, Jones played in 49 games and recorded 101 tackles and 7.0 quarterback sacks. The newly activated Jones joins a rebuilt defensive line that includes Casey Sayles and a group of young linemen hungry to prove themselves in the CFL.
