Montreal Alouettes Sign DB Cale Sanders Jr, SMU Alumn

The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that they have signed defensive back Cale Sanders Jr. to a 2 year deal.

Cale Sanders Jr. – SMU (5’10, 189lbs)

Sanders Jr. finished his collegiate career with Southern Methodist University, where he played in 28 games with 21 starts from 2023 to 2024. He recorded 46 solo tackles, 33 assisted tackles, 10 TFLs, an interception, 9 passes defended, 3 forced fumbles, and a sack with SMU.

He was named to the DCTF All-Texas Second Team Defense in 2023 and on the 2024 Preseason team.

Prior to SMU, he played for Fresno State in 2022 and 2021, where he played in 26 games with 13 starts. He recorded 52 total tackles (45 solo), 2 TFLs, 3 forced fumbles, 9 pass breakups, and an interception with Fresno State.

Sanders Jr. is described as having the “athletic traits of a pro-level player; however, has some mental and physical development left to grow into. If he can add weight, he has a chance to improve the other aspects at the next level over time,” by William Scott Garner Jr., in his scouting report with Draft Diamonds. He has a listed 40-yard dash time of 4.53 seconds.
