Post-Game Recap: Calgary At Winnipeg

Well, Bomber fans did not have that much to cheer about after Calgary beat Winnipeg 31-10.

I was wrong! I though that Collaros was going to get some playing time.

However, once the Bombers had released their depth chart for the game I knew it was going to be more of a “Let’s see what we got,” kind of game.

So how did they fair? No so good.

Before the game I said, “The Bombers are not messing around at QB.”

If that is still true, then the last pre-season game of 2024 leaves some major question marks. Specifically, who will be the third quarterback to join the Bombers?

Neither of those quarterbacks jumped off the page. And as for Grainger, he had only been with the club for five days before the pre-season game. Rumor has it that Grainger was supposed to play the 4th quarter, but he got injured in the game. That is why he did not see the field in the 4th quarter.

So what do the Bombers do? Well, they end up releasing Grainger. But is Terry Wilson a great third quarterback? I am still unconvinced. Keep in mind, what the Bombers really are trying to do is find the eventual replacement for Zach Collaros.

There are a lot of questions that I still have with the Bombers. I thought one was filled, who would be the Bombers’ returner? It looked like it would be Chris Smith, after he took one back to the house! Yet later, it sounded like he was injured and the Bombers released him.

It also seemed like the Bombers were giving up too many long passes. Yes, the Bomber’s have a new defensive coordinator. Yes, Calgary played more of its starters. But only time will tell if that was the reason the Bombers got beat downfield or if there is a bigger issue.

What is your biggest question mark for the Bombers?
