When they last met in week 4, the BC Lions defeated the Ottawa REDBLACKS 24 to 12. On Saturday, September 11th the BC Lions (2-2) host the Ottawa REDBLACKS (1-3) for a rematch.
The REDBLACKS came into the season with a strong defensive performance, before dropping three games. The Lions have been slowly finding their rhythm, trading losses and wins each week.
On the offense, the REDBLACKS are struggling in the air, averaging 192 passing yards per game. Meanwhile, the Lions are averaging a comfortable 292 passing yards per game. The ground game for both teams is about the same, as they both are averaging roughly 71 yards a game on the ground. Ottawa and BC are both ranked in the bottom 3 offenses in the league, Lions are #7 and REDBLACKS are #9.
This game should be more of a defensive battle, as both teams rank in the top 5 of the league. Ottawa (#5) has shown flashes of great defensive play but lacks consistency all around. They have had 3 interceptions (one being a pick six), 7 sacks, but allow a league-high 77.6 completion percentage. The run game has been hurting them as they allow a league-high 117.8 rushing yards per game. The Lions (#2) have been able to get 7 interceptions. 7 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. The Lions, however, have had similar struggles defending the pass allowing a 69.5 completion percentage. On the run game, the Lions have been solid, only allowing 87.8 rushing yards per game.
