  • Coaching additions aim to strengthen both the offensive and defensive capabilities of the Roughriders.

Saskatchewan Roughriders 2024 Coaching Staff

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have officially announced their coaching staff for the 2024 season. Head coach Corey Mace, alongside staff announced earlier, are ready to channel their collective expertise into a competitive campaign for the Roughriders.

Offensive Additions

Edwin Harrison, a two-time Grey Cup champion, joins as the offensive line coach. He transitions to this role following considerable success with the Argonauts, where he notably guided AJ Ouellette to becoming an East Division All-Star.

Marquay McDaniel, moving into Saskatchewan as the receiver’s coach, brings his extensive playing and coaching background to the table. McDaniel, a former CFL All-Star and Grey Cup winner, has helped nurture talent to achieve top 10 league receiving yard rankings during his coaching career.

Lastly, Anthony Vitale transitions to running backs coach within Saskatchewan itself, bringing over a decade of coaching experience across different levels and roles, displaying flexibility and strategic insights in his past coaching positions.

Defensive Expertise

On the defensive end, Josh Bell, a Grey Cup and Super Bowl champion, takes on the role of pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach. His previous tenure with the Argonauts and Stampeders provides a solid foundation for shaping the Roughriders’ defensive strategy.

Phillip Daniels, with a rich NFL background, steps in as the defensive line coach. His NFL coaching experience and hands-on professional career bring a wealth of knowledge to Saskatchewan’s defensive front.

J.C. Sherritt, revered for his time as a player and CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player, returns to Canada to coach the linebackers. His NCAA coaching stints paired with his on-field CFL success establish a strong defensive coaching presence.

Diverse Coaching Backgrounds

Jordan Linnen brings his experience from the collegiate ranks and as a running backs coach with the Edmonton Elks where he developed prominent talent.

Jeff Higgins, entering the CFL with a breadth of coaching history from high school to the Arena League, brings a fresh perspective and a seasoned record of mentorship and leadership.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders, with this newly minted coaching lineup for 2024, are ready to bring a mix of new tactics and proven approaches to the coming season in the hopes of securing another successful year on the green and white gridiron.
