Truth Bombs – Bombers Lost A Lot Of Pieces In The Offseason Yet Are 3-0 – Trust The Process

In the offseason the Bombers lost their Offensive Coordinator to BC, and their Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel, Ted Goveia, to Hamilton. Then they lost a lot of players. I would not blame anyone for question the Bombers’ decisions in the off-season. But yet they are 3-0. So what can we learn? Trust the process.

Going to Hamilton, following Ted Goveia who would become Hamilton’s General Manager, were Drew Wolitarsky, Kenny Lawler,  Brendan O’Leary-Orange,  Brian Cole II, Liam Dobson, Miles Fox, and Tyjuan Garbutt.

The Bombers also traded defensive lineman Kyle Samson, the 8th pick in round one of the global draft and the 36th overall CFL draft pick. In return the Bombers acquired Matthew Peterson, the second overall pick of the Global Draft, and Hamilton’s fifth round pick (39th overall) of the CFL Draft.

On paper it looks like Hamilton took the winners spoils on this one. However, Winnipeg has used Peterson while Oliveira has been injured and Peterson has fit in well.

And speaking about running backs, do you remember a few years ago when many fans were calling for Augustine to play more and Oliveira to sit? Well, Augustine is gone and Oliveira has done great in past years!

The Bombers also lost Ford to Edmonton, and Celestin Haba went to Toronto, and Adam Bighill was not offered a contract. It was not as if Winnipeg appeared gutted in the off season, but they certainly looked thin, picked over, and lacking some integral pieces. Fast forward to the end of Week 4 and the Bombers sit 3-0, while BC is 1-3, and Hamilton is 1-2.

It is not that the Winnipeg coaches and managers can do no wrong. In fact, I call it out when I see it. In fact, this off season the Kyle Waters said that he was not sure how well they did in free agency. Even they seemed a little uncertain.

However, trusting the process has meant that the Bombers who started last year 2-4 clinched the Western Final. And in 2025, though there is a lot of season to go, trusting the process means that the Bombers are 3-0 despite the fact that Streveler played the whole first game and Oliveira got injured in the first series of the first game and has been out since.

It is not always easy to trust the process, but the Bombers have earned that right. In September of 2024, Mike O’Shea became the Bombers’ most winning coach. And in August of 2024, with the win against BC, the Club hit the 700 win mark, while Mike O’Shea and Wade Miller hit the 100 win mark. So while the Bombers are bound to make more on-field and off-field decisions that may seem questionable the best thing that Bombers fans might be able to do is trust the process and enjoy the ride.

Brandon O’Leary Orange was in Hamilton last year, he didnt move in 2025.

How did Hamilton take the winner spoils on the draft trade.
Bombers traded a DL since they had too many(4 CDN on roster now) to get a RB to backup their MOP and acquire the global DL they coveted. That’s just good asset management and the Bombers look to have won on paper today.
5 straight GC who wouldn’t trust their process by 2025?
