Galaxy Makes Easy Work of the Surge, 57-3

In a game the Stuttgart Surge wanted to get to .500 and make a push for the playoffs, this one got away from them early. Of course, they also wanted to get payback from the Week 2 loss. After going 3 and out, the Surge punted to the Galaxy. Special teams came up big for Frankfurt, as DB/KR Omari Williams returned the kick 41 yards, getting the Galaxy within scoring range.

Three plays later, and after a near disaster of a fumble by RB Gerald Ameln, the Galaxy hit paydirt, when WR Anthony Mahoungou recovered the ball in the endzone for a touchdown. PAT was no good, Frankfurt takes the lead 6-0.

Still unable to get anything going offensively, and facing heavy pressure by the Galaxy front 7, the Surge go 3 and out.

A big-time catch from QB Jakeb Sullivan to WR Lorenz Regler, gets the Galaxy inside the 10 yard line. RB Justin Rodney ran it in untouched from 7 yards out, touchdown Frankfurt. PAT was no good, the lead is 12-0.

The offensive line for Stuttgart was no match for the front 4 of Frankfurt, as QB Aaron Ellis was running for his life most of the game. Again the Surge have to punt after going 3 and out.

Thankfully, the Galaxy were unable to get anything going, but thanks to a bad punt by the Surge, the Frankfurt offense started in scoring range. However, WR/K Max Ebsen was unable to hit the long field goal.

Again the Surge were not able to overcome the stout Galaxy defense, and after 5 plays were forced to punt again. This time, though, they were able to pin them deep in their own territory.

Sullivan hit Mahoungou for a monster 51 yard gain. Two plays later Sullivan ran it in himself, to take the 1st quarter lead to 19-0, as the PAT this time was good.

This time the Surge, aided by unnecessary penalties on the Galaxy, got into scoring range again, and hit the field goal. This would be the only score for Stuttgart, though.

After a Galaxy punt, and a Surge turnover on downs, Frankfurt got back on the board with a pass from Sullivan to Mahoungou for 60 yards and the score. PAT was good, lead to 26-3. They took that lead into the half.

Stuttgart received the 3rd quarter kickoff, but again had to punt it away. Frankfurt took advantage of all but 1 possession in the 2nd half, scoring 3 more TDs and a field goal.

Their 2 possession of the half started deep in Stuttgart territory, and after 5 plays, Sullivan punched it in for the touchdown. Their lead went to 33-0 after another good PAT.

Just to run down the final score for the Galaxy, WR Marvin Rutch scored on a 32-yard pass from backup QB Moritz Johannknecht. Ameln had himself a nice 44-yard run to get the next touchdown. And on their last drive of the game, RB Florian Schneikert took over, gaining 56 yards on 8 carries and the touchdown. That took the lead to 57-3.

The Galaxy improve to 5-1 and face the Hamburg Sea Devils next week.

The Surge fall to 2-4, and will play the Leipzig Kings.
