Roughriders Sign American DB Rodney Clemons

The Saskatchewan Roughriders continued the retooling of their defense with the signing of defensive back Rodney Clemons. Rodney Clemons most recently was on the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad during the 2021 season after playing on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad in 2020.

The native of Katy, Texas played college football at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 2015 – 2019. While playing for the SMU Mustangs he recorded 275 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, 2 quarterback sacks, seven interceptions and three forced fumbles. He played in 54 NCAA games while attending SMU.

While the 26-year old DB could not stick with an NFL team the Roughriders clearly see a lot of potential in him and believe he should be a quality contributor to the team’s defense in 2023 and potentially beyond.
