Saskatchewan Roughriders Ink American Quarterback Jack Coan

The Green and White have added to their QB room with the of signing Notre Dame product Jack Coan.

The 25-year-old finds his way to Saskatchewan after most recently spending time with the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL. In eight games, the gunslinger threw for 1,403 and six touchdowns. After going unselected in the 2022 NFL draft, Coan has also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound pivot had an accomplished collegiate career. Beginning at the University of Wisconsin, Coan threw for 3,278 yards, 23 touchdowns and ran into the end zone for another four in 25 games across four years as a Badger. Also, the QB was named an All-Big Ten honourable mention in 2019 after throwing for the third most yards in a single season in school history (2,727).

In the New York native’s final season of collegiate availability, he transferred to the University of Notre Dame. In 13 games, Coan threw for 3,150 yards and 25 touchdowns. After leading the Fighting Irish to an 11-2 record, Coan set records in the Fiesta Bowl for passing yards with 509, and passing touchdowns with 5.

Coan is the 15th player to make his way from South Bend to south Saskatchewan. He joins Trevor Harris, Mason Fine, Antonio Pipkin and Shea Patterson in the quarterback room. With the Green and White’s quarterback situation already in a good spot, it will be interesting to see if the New York native can force Sasaktachewan’s coaching staff’s hands.
