The Montreal Alouettes announced a 3-year contract extension for starting left guard Pier-Olivier Lestage. This move comes exactly 1 week after the Alouettes resigned their starting right guard, Donny Ventrelli, to a contract extension.
Lestage – Université de Montréal (6’3”, 305 lbs.)
Pier-Olivier Lestage played his 4th season for his hometown team this year and has been the team’s starting left guard since the 13th game of the 2022 season after signing with the team midseason. He was named an East Division All-Star this past season.
“We are very happy to be able to count on Pier-Olivier’s services for the next three years; this is excellent news for our football club,” stated Alouettes’ General Manager Danny Maciocia. “I’ve known Pier-Olivier since his days in university, and he has a contagious work ethic. He is a big presence in our locker room.”
This past season, he collected a $65,000 offseason roster bonus structured in his previous 2-season extension on top of his $125,000 base salary, per 3 Down Nation. Montreal will greatly benefit from keeping Lestage around, given his proven worth as a starting guard.
Lestage was also recognized by Pro Football Focus this season in the selection of a CFL All-Star Team, listing him on their 2nd Team. Given Lestage’s talent and status as a national player, keeping him around was one of the highest offseason priorities.
Lestage was drafted by Montreal 10th overall in the 2021 CFL Draft. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an NFL undrafted free agent in 2021, where he spent the season on the practice roster before being released in June of 2022.
The Alouettes now have their entire playoff starting offensive line under contract next season, although they have a decision to make regarding Jamar McGloster, who started at right tackle through week 16 before being on the 1-game injured list.
