Montreal Alouettes Sign WR Tevin Jones, RB Sean Thomas Erlington, DE Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund, DT Derek Wiggan

The Montreal Alouettes signed 4 players on Tuesday which was the first day of CFL free agency. They have signed running back Sean Thomas Erlington, defensive end Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund, defensive tackle Derek Wiggan, and wide receiver Tevin Jones.

RB Sean Thomas Erlington – Montreal (31 y/o, 5’9, 217 lbs)

Sean Thomas Erlington entered the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats who drafted him in the 8th round (66th overall) of the 2017 CFL Draft. He has since played in 73 regular season CFL games rushing 207 times for 1,258 yards (6.08 yards per carry) and 7 touchdowns. He has also caught 71 passes for 719 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Erlington played his university ball for the Montreal Carabins from 2013 to 2016 where he won the Vanier Cup in 2014 with Danny Maciocia serving as the head coach.

“I am extremely pleased to bring Sean Thomas back to Montreal. He is from here and I am convinced that he will give us everything he has”, stated Alouettes’ General Manager Danny Maciocia. “He is a talented athlete who has excellent acceleration when running with the ball. With his services, we are adding depth to our roster.”

DE Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund – Southeastern Louisiana (27 y/o, 6’2, 248 lbs)

Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund played for the Calgary Stampeders since he was drafted by them third overall in the 2020 CFL Draft. He has played in 50 CFL regular season games over which time he has made 53 tackles and 14 sacks. He made 13 sacks over the last 2 seasons while playing in a rotational role.

Adeyemi-Berglund played for Southeastern Louisiana from 2017 to 2019. He played in 33 games with 24 starts contributing 68 solo tackles, 67 assisted tackles, and 15 sacks.

WR Tevin Jones – Memphis (31 y/o, 6’2, 225 lbs)

Tevin Jones is coming off a strong season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He finished 14th in receiving yards last season as he recorded 65 receptions for 882 yards and 3 touchdowns.

He joined the CFL in 2022 with Saskatchewan where he played in 14 games catching 20 passes for 265 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Jones played his collegiate football for Memphis where he appeared in 51 games from 2011 to 2015. He caught 90 passes for 1,215 yards and 9 touchdowns with the program.

Following the 2016 NFL Draft, Jones signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent. He spent time with NFL teams primarily on practice squads including Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Jacksonville. He played in 5 games with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019 over which time he caught 4 passes for 61 yards.

DT Derek Wiggan – Queen’s (31 y/o, 6’1, 303 lbs)

Derek Wiggan joined the CFL after being drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the 4th round of the 2014 CFL Draft 34th overall. He has since played in 117 games over 7 seasons all with Calgary. Over his CFL career, he has accumulated 149 tackles, 17 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception. He started at defensive tackle in every game for Calgary over the past 2 seasons.

Wiggan played his collegiate ball for Queen’s where he was named all-conference in 2013.
